[Parlour]

This room, in real size would be 15 ft x 15 ft (4.6m x 4.6m for the metricists!).

It is entered via a mahogany six-panel door with a brass doorknob. There are two; 12-pane windows, one looking out to the front of the house and the other looking out to the rear, both windows have brass curtain rods. It has a fine fireplace with a slate hearth and a brass fronted fire basket. Two lamps light the fire basket, one gives a red glow and the other gives a flickering flame effect. There is a centre light, which is an arrangement of three oil lamps on a brass column. The floor is made to look like pine planking. There is a moulded skirting board all round the room and a moulded coving around the ceiling. The ceiling is painted white with a centre rose and the walls are papered with a period patterned paper.
